Words!

Sarah is starting to expand her vocabulary lately beyond the usual "mama" and "dada". Her latest words are: nana for banana, car, ba for ball and gurt for yogurt. It seems everyday she picks up something new - it's great!

Alaska Grown and First Bike Ride

We finally made it to the Saturday Market downtown this past weekend. We were excited to come across the Alaska Grown booth and were able to finally purchase a hoodie for Sarah to 'grow' into. We also found a traditional native Alaskan coat which I've wanted ever since I knew we were having a girl.

On Sunday, we took Sarah out on her first bike ride in the new to us bike trailor. We had a great time. She enjoyed the ride especially when we were riding fast. Afterwards, she ran around the front yard and took particular joy in playing in the puddle at the end of the driveway. Very cute. Notice the bike helmet - a must accessory for this season's wardrobe.

Pig Pen!

Yesterday was a hoot because we are finally getting a taste of what summer can be like with sunny days (though today we are back to living in Seattle). Sarah and I were outside in the backyard after snack to look at the flowers and play in the rocks. I decided to pull some weeds and grass in the rocks while keeping an eye on my very curious and mobile toddler. She was having fun walking the deck from one side to the other. She stopped mid-way at one point to look at the flowers in the pot...and then proceeded to start double fisting dirt out of the pot all over the deck, sprinkling some on her head, etc. She was having a great time. I'm all for playing in the dirt but I got concerned with this particular situation because I'm a sucker for Miracle Grow products and the dirt was "specially formulated" with the product. So it was probably good that we stopped the activity to go inside for her third clothing change of the day. Yes, third. We have on average two changes a day. One in the morning when she wakes up. Another when we get home from daycare because she looks like Pig Pen.
And then the third after digging in potting soil. But the best part is she is one happy baby regardless of how much Spray and Wash along with Clorox color safe bleach we use on a weekly basis.

Blog Debut!

This is our blog debut! I thought I'd give would give this a try to enhance contact with family and friends in addition to the smugmug website.

So, here it goes...

We bought a bike trailer from a friend this past weekend who was cleaning out his shed. In order to take the first spin, or any spin for that matter, we need to outfit Sarah with the proper safety gear. So Sarah and I went to the bike store yesterday to pick out her new bike helmet. It's too cute - very girly pink with dogs on it which was a bonus. Dogs rate high in our house. She immediately wanted to hold the helmet in the store after the salesperson fitted it for us. Once we got home she wanted to wear it all the time. And if it fell off, she would bring it to me to put it back on her head. The chin strap needs adjusting because when fastened, it makes for an unhappy baby.
